Mladic in hospital 'with pneumonia'

Former Bosnian Serb military chief Ratko Mladic has been admitted to hospital in the Netherlands with suspected pneumonia.

Mladic, 69, is detained at the United Nations Yugoslav war crimes tribunal while waiting to be tried on charges including genocide.

Mladic’s lawyer Milos Saljic said today that his client had been taken to hospital “allegedly because of pneumonia”.

At a court appearance last week, Mladic complained that he was in poor health and suffering pain from a kidney stone.

His family has said he suffered two strokes while a fugitive for 16 years.
