16 killed in Morocco terror blast
A terrorist attack at a tourist cafe in Marrakech has killed 16 people, Morocco’s state news agency said.
The MAP agency reported two people died of injuries from the attack in hospital, bringing the number of dead from 14 to 16.
At least 20 were injured.
The accident and emergency chief at Marrakech’s main Tofail Hospital said one of the injured died at the hospital and another en route in an ambulance.
At least 11 of those killed were foreigners. The Israeli consul in Shanghai said two were a Jewish couple who lived in Shanghai.
Police barriers are blocking off the cafe after the attack on Thursday, which was Morocco’s deadliest in eight years.
It hit one of the top attractions in a country heavily dependent on tourism.
