US woman charged after setting fire to boyfriend's 'family jewels'

A US woman set fire to her boyfriend's crotch because he was ignoring her.

Berlinda Dixon-Newbold wanted to talk to partner Sheldon Gonzales but he was not in the mood for chatting, so a livid Berlinda grabbed the nearest available lighter and set him alight.

After he managed to put the fire out with his hands, the couple had a huge row over her actions.

Sheldon - whose injuries are not known - told reporters: "You tend to get upset when somebody tries to harm the family jewels."

Berlinda is currently being held for aggravated assault.
