Everest Sherpa to scale heights again
A veteran Sherpa guide says he is planning to climb Mount Everest for a record 20th time while cleaning up tons of rubbish, campaigning for Nepal's tourism industry and taking up the ashes of Edmund Hillary.
Apa says he will attempt to scale the 29,000ft summit this spring, leading an environment expedition that aims to collect and bring down 15,430lb of garbage scattered along the snowy slopes of the world's highest mountain.
Apa will also take the ashes of Hillary - who in 1953 became one of the first two climbers to conquer Everest - up to the summit.
He died in 2008 in his home country New Zealand.
