Camps claim victory in Afghan election

The campaign teams for Afghanistan’s president and his top challenger have each positioned themselves as the winner of Afghanistan’s presidential election, one day after millions of Afghans defied militant attacks to cast ballots.

The first official returns are not expected until at least tomorrow, but campaign teams for President Hamid Karzai and rival Abdullah Abdullah conducted informal counts and posted numbers at campaign headquarters.
