Mohamed Abullahi Omaar said the group’s ideology did not recognise the values and interests of the Somali people.

Somalia is riven by fighting among clan warlords and an Islamist uprising that has killed thousands of civilians and sent hundreds of thousands fleeing for their lives in recent years.
