Gunmen kidnap French aid worker
Security officials in Afghanistan say gunmen have kidnapped a French aid worker in Kabul.
Mohammad Shafi, an eyewitness, said gunmen attacked a group of foreigners today and kidnapped with one of them.
Mr Shafi says an Afghan intelligence official tried to intervene and was shot dead.
Security companies that provide threat assessments to international workers in Kabul said that a French aid worker was kidnapped, but that another international worker in the group escaped.
Kidnappings by criminal groups in Afghanistan have spiked the last several months because of the lucrative ransoms that are paid to free hostages.
