A ferry which ran into trouble in high winds in the Irish Sea has run aground at Blackpool, the Maritime and Coastguard Agency said tonight.

A ferry which ran into trouble in high winds in the Irish Sea has run aground at Blackpool, the Maritime and Coastguard Agency said tonight.

A total of 14 people were airlifted to safety from 'The Riverdance', a roll-on roll-off vessel, in a rescue operation which included the coastguard, the RAF and the RNLI.
