Bush: I won't back down on troop plans

President George Bush and vice president Dick Cheney dug in for a confrontation with Congress over America’s Iraq strategy today, saying they would not budge from sending more US troops.

“I fully understand they could try to stop me,” Bush said of the Democrat-run Congress. “But I’ve made my decision, and we’re going forward.”
