Turkish proposal to solve Cyprus stand-off 'conditional'

Turkey has proposed to the European Union to open a port and an airport to Cyprus in return for opening a port and an airport in the breakaway Turkish Cypriot state, the state-owned Anatolia news agency reported today.

Turkey’s offer is aimed at averting a partial freeze of its entry talks with the 25-nation bloc, a Finnish EU presidency official.

Turkey’s Foreign Ministry officials refused to elaborate, saying negotiations were still underway.
