Vietnam Airlines to use air security personnel
Vietnam Airlines plans to put air security personnel on some of its international flights as the national carrier targets to open its routes to the United States, an airline official said today.
“After September 11, the US authorities asked to have air security personnel on their flights and they demanded foreign airlines flying to the United States to do the same,” said Tran Tien Dung, head of Vietnam Airlines’ air security department.
The measure is part of the civil air security programme which is being examined by the country’s Civil Aviation Administration, he said adding the airlines hoped the measure to be approved next month.
Dung said decisions on which international flights to have air security personnel depended on specific regulations of the destination countries and threats to air security.
