Mary-Ann murder gang were on probation
Four members of the gang behind the kidnap, rape and murder of Mary-Ann Leneghan were on probation supervision at the time of the killing, it can be reported today.
Drug dealer Adrian Thomas, 20, and fellow gang-members Michael Johnson, 19, Jamaile Morally, 22, and 18-year-old Indrit Krasniqi, were all under supervision when the 16-year-old, whose father is Irish, was stabbed to death and another teenager shot and left for dead in Reading, Berks, last May.
Thomas, Morally, Morally’s brother Joshua, 23, and their friend Llewellyn Adams were found guilty of the killing at Reading Crown Court last week while Johnson confessed during the eight-week trial.
Today the trial concluded with Krasniqi also found guilty of murder and attempted murder. He was cleared on two counts of rape.
Last week he was convicted of kidnap and assault.
As Krasniqi was found guilty of murder and attempted murder, whispers of ``yes'' could be heard from the public gallery.
The judge exempted jurors from jury duty for the next 10 years.
He said to them: “I appreciate how unpleasant and stressful this case has been for you to hear.”
He added: “That is something which can possibly be said for everyone in the court.”
