Bird flu conference donors pledge more than $1.9bn

Donors at a bird flu conference in China’s capital Beijing have pledged more than $1.9bn (€1.5bn) to fight a potential flu pandemic, a US official at the conference said.

The United States will pledge $334m (€275m) to help fight the H5N1 virus and to help prepare for any potential pandemic, a statement issued at the conference said.
