Algiers hotel collapses, six killed
The facade of a dilapidated hotel collapsed today in Algeria’s capital, killing six people and injuring eight others, officials said.
Rescue workers with sniffer dogs retrieved the bodies from the four-story Hadika Hotel in Algiers near the northern African country’s National Theatre, the officials said.
The nationalities of the victims were not immediately available.
The hotel, built in 1860, crumbled with about 30 people inside, the officials said.
A couple with their young son were killed, and at least one victim was in serious condition at a hospital.
The cause of the collapse was under investigation.
