Two injured in Spanish landslide

A landslide buried three lanes of a highway in northern Spain this morning, temporarily trapping a dozen people in their cars and slightly injuring two, authorities said.

The landslide occurred some 31 miles east of the northern Basque city of Bilbao on the A-8 highway when a hillside collapsed and an avalanche of boulders hurtled onto and buried a section of the roadway.

Rescue services pulled out the trapped people from the cars and one truck that were overturned and partially buried.

Two people were treated with light injuries on the scene, a spokesman for the Basque emergency service DYA said.
