A leading US neurosurgeon who examined 10-year-old Indian twins joined at the skull believes they can be successfully separated and will lead the operation if the girls’ family consents.

Dr. Benjamin Carson – director of paediatric neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins Children’s Centre in Baltimore – reached the conclusion after carrying out tests yesterday on sisters Saba and Farah, said Anjali Kapoor Bissell, spokeswoman for the Indraprastha Apollo Hospital in New Delhi, where the twins have been admitted.
