Belgium: Five children die in car smash

Five children died early today when their car was hit by a train after the driver apparently ignored warnings not to cross the rails, officials said.

Mayor Etienne Steegmans of Diepenbeek in eastern Belgium said four of the victims died on the spot, and a fifth died in hospital.
