British troops attacked in Iraq

British troops came under fire again today at their temporary base in Camp Dogwood, Iraq.

Three rockets packed with explosives landed and exploded in quick succession at 3pm (midday Irish time).

It was the first missile attack on the Black Watch base for six days. There have now been a total of 24 strikes on Dogwood since the 850-strong battle group arrived at the base, 25 miles south-west of Baghdad, nearly five weeks ago.

Many other missiles have failed to explode on impact.

Three loud bangs echoed across the camp within seconds of each other today as the rockets landed.

Military restrictions prevent reporting of where exactly they came down. There were not believed to have been any casualties.

Rockets fired at the base are usually about 5ft long and carry a 40lbs explosive payload.
