Two moderate earthquakes shook parts of eastern Greece today but there were no reports of injury of damage, authorities said.

The shocks, felt in Athens, were of preliminary magnitudes 4.6 and 4.3 and occurred at 7.07pm and 7.30pm (1607 and 1630 Irish time) on the island of Evia, 43 miles north of the capital.

Earlier today, the Athens Geodynamic Institute also reported that a 4.8-magnitude quake rattled the south-western city of Patras at 2.44am (1144 Irish time Thursday), also causing no injury or serious damage.
