Sirens sound over Baghdad

Air raid sirens are ringing out over Baghdad, CNN says.

The cable news network said today that its reporters have been expelled from Baghdad by the Iraqi government.

CNN had two reporters, Nic Robertson and Rym Brahimi, who had remained in the Iraqi capital after most other American news media evacuated their correspondents for safety reasons.

CNN reporter Bill Hemmer said on the air that he hoped the Iraqi government would reconsider.

“The important thing is that these people get out safely,” Hemmer said.
