North Korea withdrew from the global nuclear arms control treaty today but insisted it had no plans to develop nuclear weapons “at this stage.”

It blamed what it called US aggression for its decision to quit the Nuclear Non-proliferation Treaty – a move that can only add to spiralling tensions over its nuclear ambitions.
