Around 100 Afghans being held on a desolate Pacific island after Australia refused to house them, were returning home today after authorities rejected their asylum applications.

The Geneva-based International Organisation for Migration (IOM) said yesterday that the Afghans were returning voluntarily and Australia will give each cash to help them resettle in their war-ravaged homeland.
