Aid agency pledges to stay in Zimbabwe

Irish aid agency Trócaire has said it will not be bullied out of Zimbabwe, despite the decision of the government to pull out its four monitors because of the threat of violence.

European sanctions are this morning taking effect against the regime of Robert Mugabe. All EU election monitors are on their way home.
