US forces head for Tora Bora

An American military operation is thought to be underway in the Tora Bora area of Afghanistan to try to confirm senior terror leaders have been killed in an attack earlier this week.

A missile was fired from an unmanned plane into a convoy thought to have been carrying leading figures of al-Qaida.

The Pentagon has been unable to confirm who died in the attack.

Tora Bora was a primary target during the US attacks on Afghanistan.

The area contains cave complexes where terror chiefs went to ground.
