Robinson concerned for Afghans as winter approaches

The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Mary Robinson, has expressed deep concern about the condition of Afghanistan's civilian population after a week of US and British air strikes.

As fears grow of the escalating refugee crisis in the region, Mrs Robinson is calling for a suspension of the air strikes to provide aid to civilians before the onset of winter.

Speaking on the BBC's "Breakfast with Frost" programme this morning, she said innocent Afghans should not become indirect victims of the September 11th attacks.
