UN's Afghan staff beaten by Taliban

Afghans working for the United Nations have been beaten by Taliban loyalists in Kabul and two other Afghan cities and a number of vehicles confiscated.

Afghans working for the United Nations have been beaten by Taliban loyalists in Kabul and two other Afghan cities and a number of vehicles confiscated.

"Staff have been beaten in Kabul, Kandahar and in Jalalabad," said UN spokeswoman Stephanie Bunker.

"A significant number not yet specified of vehicles have been taken by the Taliban in Kandahar."

Bunker said among vehicles seized were three ambulances and a pick-up truck confiscated by the Taliban in Kandahar, the headquarters of the religious militia.
