Now Milosevic's children are in trouble
Police are seeking attempted murder charges against Slobodan Milosevic’s daughter who fired her gun during the former Yugoslav president’s arrest.
Marija Milosevic, 32, fired several pistol shots at government officials who negotiated Milosevic’s surrender in his Belgrade villa after a 26 hour siege.
Police charged her with "endangering public safety and illegal possession of arms."
Traces of gunpowder were found on both her hands after the shooting, police said.
She could face up to five years in jail for an attempted murder, legal experts say, if police criminal charges are accepted by the court and she goes on trial.
Marija - the troubled child of the Milosevic family - was fond of guns and has been quoted as saying she "never left my home without a gun and a mobile phone."
A police search of Milosevic’s villa after his arrest found three guns believed to be Marija’s, authorities said.
Local media reports said that Yugoslav police also have launched an international arrest warrant for Milosevic’s son, Marko, who fled to Russia in the wake of Milosevic’s overthrow in October. He was rumoured to have gained enormous wealth through illegal trade in cigarettes.
