Milosevic faces extra charges over gun battle before arrest
Investigations against Slobodan Milosevic have widened to include accusations that he incited his bodyguards to shoot at police trying to arrest him.
The chief of Serbia's police force said Milosevic's bodyguards wounded four policemen, one seriously, when they charged his residence to try and arrest him.
Three of the bodyguards are in custody, including Sinisa Vucinic, a Milosevic loyalist, who was in charge of the armed squad protecting the former president at his upscale villa.
Milosevic was arrested early on Sunday on suspicion of abuse of power and corruption, which carries a maximum five years in prison on conviction.
If charged and convicted for inciting his bodyguards, he could be jailed for an additional 15 years.
