Two charged over toddler air-gun shooting

Police investigating the shooting of a baby with an air-gun have charged two people.

One-year-old Harry Studley remains critically ill in hospital after suffering a serious head injury on Friday evening in Bristol.

Detectives said Jordan Walters, 24, and Emma Jane Horseman, 23, of Bishport Avenue, have been charged with causing grievous bodily harm.

A police spokesman said: “Harry Studley remains in a critical condition in Bristol Children’s Hospital with a serious head injury after being shot by a pellet discharged from an air weapon.

“We’ve now charged two people in relation to the incident. They have been remanded in custody ahead of their appearance before magistrates.”

Emergency crews were called to a flat in Bishport Avenue, Hartcliffe, at 4.10pm on Friday, with neighbours reportedly saying they heard the child “screaming and screaming”.

The Bristol Post quoted an unnamed father, who witnessed the aftermath, as saying: “I couldn’t sleep last night because I just couldn’t get this picture out of my head.

“The mother was running behind covered in blood.”

Police said the boy’s family were continuing to be given “all the help and support they need”.

Walters and Horseman will appear at Bristol Magistrates Court today.

In a statement, Harry’s family, including mother Amy and father Edward, said he remained “very poorly” and issued a heartfelt thank you for the messages of support they had received.
