Forget red, white and rose - have you tried BLUE wine?
Dubbed as the world’s first blue wine, Gik created the beverage from Spanish grapes from the La Rioja, León, and Castilla-La Mancha regions.
The company made the wine for young people who believe traditional wines can be elitist.
Gik says: “Try to forget everything you know about wine. Try to unlearn the hundreds of protected wine designations of origin, the complex and demanding service standards and everything that sommelier said at a tasting course to which you were invited.”
Instead, they ask that you buy Gik, a wine created by “young people without any wine tradition”.
According to Eater.com, the wine gets its colour from a combination of “anthocyanin (pigment found in grape skin) and indigo (dye extracted from Isatis tinctoria plant)” and contains a non-caloric sweetener.
It has a similar taste to sweet white wine and is made from a blend of red and white grapes sourced from vineyards in Spain. A 750ml bottle of the 11.5% ABV drink sells for ÂŁ7.50 in England.
