Chrissy discovered a lump in her chest last month and was told she had a very rare form of the disease called secretory carcinoma.

She will now undergo a mastectomy, according to ABC4 Utah News, which interviewed the family.

“I was scared the first time I knew about it,” Chrissy told the TV station.

“But I knew I could fight it off and I hope that I can fight it off.”

Her mother, Annette, has suffered cervical cancer in the past, while her father Troy is battling non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, having been diagnosed with it as a baby.

Annette told ABC4 she “broke down” when hearing that her daughter also had cancer.

She added: “It’s a struggle every day worrying about my family, about my husband and now my baby girl. It is a very rare form of breast cancer.

“It’s called secretory carcinoma. Only one in one million are diagnosed and she is the youngest that they’ve run across having this particular type of breast cancer.”

Friends of the family have started a Go Fund Me campaign to raise money for medical bills.

Annette said Chrissy kept the family going when her husband was being treated for cancer.

“She was our therapy when he was going through chemotherapy,” she said.

“She was always making us laugh and she’s got the wit of someone far beyond her age.”

Chrissy will undergo her surgery at the Huntsman Cancer Institute, Utah.

“We’re just going to keep fighting,” Annette said.

“Doing everything we can to smile every day and laugh every day and carry our head high and do our best to overcome this.”
