Reality TV star Caitlyn Jenner — formerly known as Bruce Jenner — has appeared for the first time in public in her new female identity on the June cover of Vanity Fair.

Jenner debuts identity in ‘Vanity Fair’

Jenner, 65, a former track and field athlete now more famous for her appearances in Keeping up with the Kardashians, confirmed her gender transition in an interview with ABC’s Diane Sawyer in April.

In Vanity Fair, Jenner discusses her gender reassignment surgery and poses for a photoshoot with famed photographer Annie Leibovitz.

On a new Twitter account yesterday, she said: “I’m so happy after such a long struggle to be living my true self. Welcome to the world Caitlyn. Can’t wait for you to get to know her/me.”

The Twitter account received more than a million followers in four hours, beating Barack Obama’s record.

In a video accompanying the Vanity Fair interview, Jenner said: “Bruce always had to tell a lie. He was always living that lie. Every day he always had a secret from morning to night. Caitlyn doesn’t have any secrets. Soon as the Vanity Fair cover comes out, I’m free.”

Jenner’s stepdaughter Khloe Kardashian wrote on social media: “We were given this life because you were strong enough to live it. I couldn’t be prouder. Caitlyn, you are beautiful!”

Meanwhile, Khloe’s sister Kim announced on Sunday that she and rap star husband Kanye West are expecting their second child. Their daughter, North, was born in June 2013.
