QUIRKY WORLD ... Twins but not twins as mum and daughter give birth
Heather Penticoff and her daughter, Destinee Martin, each found out they were pregnant on the same day.
They had the same due dates and, for separate medical reasons, doctors at Lee Memorial Hospital in Fort Myers decided to induce both on the same day.
Mrs Penticoffâs daughter, Madeline, was born first and Destineeâs son, Damien, was born almost three hours later, making Mrs Penticoffâs grandson roughly the same age as her newborn daughter.
Mrs Penticoff said the births are âlike having twins without carrying twinsâ.
Arkansas police have arrested a teenager who they say led officers on a car chase after he drove to a road test facility without a licence. The Jonesboro Sun reports the 19-year-old was arrested on suspicion of fleeing a felony.
The teen showed up to take the test at the Arkansas State Police facility in Jonesboro.
Police say he fled the office and drove away after a driverâs license examiner told officers the teen drove himself there without a license. They say he struck a patrol car on his way out, causing about $6,500 (âŹ5,190) in damages.
The chase ended when the suspect crashed into a home.
The vehicle broke through the wall of the house, causing about $20,000 in damages. No injuries were reported.
People celebrating the achievement of landing a probe on a comet are blind to the real purpose of the mission â to investigate a nest of aliens.
That is according to reports circulating among UFO watchers who are convinced the truth behind the European Space Agencyâs âŹ1.25bn Rosetta mission is âout thereâ.
One email from an anonymous âwhistleblowerâ within ESA claims intelligent-sounding signals were received from comet 67PChuryumov-Gerasimenko 20 years ago and the object is actually an alien ship in disguise.
A tree said to have been the hideout of Robin Hood and his Merry Men has been voted Englandâs tree of the year, the Woodland Trust has announced. The Major Oak in Sherwood Forest Country Park, Nottinghamshire, won 18% of nearly 13,000 votes cast in the public poll run by the conservation charity.
The vast, spreading oak, thought to be between 800 and 1,000 years old, beat the ancient oak Old Knobbley in Essex and the Ickwell Oak in Bedfordshire to be crowned English tree of the year.
The first year of two pilot badger culls cost ÂŁ3,350 (âŹ4,200) for every badger killed, official figures show â but campaigners have claimed the true cost was more than ÂŁ5,000 for each animal.
The pilots, in which 1,879 badgers were killed in Gloucestershire and Somerset, cost the taxpayer ÂŁ6.3m in their first year, the figures reveal. The Government said the costs were largely due to rigorous monitoring of the humaneness and efficacy of the culls.
A man ran into a problem while trying to vote in Michigan: He was told he was dead. An election worker even told Dale Hopfinger that local records listed the date of his demise as September 25.
After some persuasion, Mr Hopfinger said officials finally allowed him to cast a ballot. He said he has been trying to figure out what happened, and that the Social Security Administration told him it was likely to have been a clerical error.
