Obama win possible but unlikely, admits Romney

Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney conceded he may be defeated by President Barack Obama in tomorrow’s presidential contest, but insisted it is doubtful.

Obama win possible but unlikely, admits Romney

Speaking at an Ohio rally yesterday, Romney said that it is possible, but not likely that Obama will win.

He was responding to supporters who booed when he speculated on the consequences of an Obama second term.

Polls suggest the race is very close. Both campaigns predict wins.

Romney is campaigning in four battleground states, including Pennsylvania today. His visit follows the decision by his campaign and its Republican allies to put millions of dollars in television advertising into Pennsylvania during the race’s final weeks to try to make it competitive.

Obama was responding by dispatching deeply popular former president Bill Clinton to the state for a four-city sweep through Pennsylvania.

National opinion polls showed the race for the popular vote so close only a statistically insignificant point or two separated the two rivals.

The final national NBC/Wall Street Journal Poll showed Obama getting the support of 48% of likely voters, while Romney receives 47%.

A poll from the Pew Research Centre found Obama with a three-point edge, 48% to 45%.
