Family’s fury over killer’s prison cell Facebook taunts

Jade Braithwaite was one of three youths who chased and stabbed Ben Kinsella to death after a petty squabble in a pub.

He was jailed for life but it emerged yesterday he has been running a Facebook page from his Buckinghamshire prison cell.

The 20-year-old killer boasted he is “down but not out” and wants a remote control so he can “mute or delete people when I need to”.

He also posed for a photograph and used it to mock up a T-shirt emblazoned with his face and the slogan “Free Jade Braithwaite”.

Ben’s sister, Brooke, 26, a former EastEnders actress, said the taunts were “appalling” as the family struggle to get on with their lives.

Ben, 16, was out celebrating the end of his exams in Holloway, north London, when he was stabbed 11 times in June 2008. Braithwaite and two friends, Juress Kika and Michael Alleyne, were convicted at the Old Bailey of murder and jailed for life. The victim’s family have since campaigned against knife crime and were joined by hundreds of supporters for a march across London.

A prison service spokesperson said “robust search techniques” are used to stop mobile phones reaching prisoners.

Possession of one without authorisation is also a criminal offence.
