AUSTRALIA’S unique flora and fauna are highly vulnerable to even a one-degree shift in average temperatures due to climate change, according to a biodiversity report.

The Great Barrier Reef and the nation’s northwestern Kakadu wetlands are particularly at risk, said the independent assessment released at an ecology conference.

Animals such as the quokka, the bettong and the mountain pygmy possum are all vulnerable.
