Clinton funds

Former US president Bill Clinton has released records that show governments, corporations and billionaires with interests in US foreign policy contributed millions of dollars to his charitable foundation.

At least $492 million (€355m) contributions to the non-profit William J Clinton Foundation were covered.

The release is intended to lay bare any financial entanglements that could affect his wife, Hillary Clinton, as secretary of state.

Tommy Vietor, a spokesman for president-elect Barack Obama, said past donations have no bearing on Ms Clinton’s prospective position.
