A man always committed to environment
Al Gore, who lost the 2000 US presidential election in the infamous “hanging chad” debacle, has jointly won the award once reserved for those who tackled war and conflict. He shares the prize with the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.
They are only the second “environmental” Nobel Peace laureates after Kenyan Wangari Maathai was awarded the prize in 2004 for her work on democracy, women’s rights and the environment.
