Man sues his ex over €70,000 ‘sin tax’
Elisa Kwon said Greg Calvino, 45, reneged on a pledge not to “use drugs, stay out late or frequent strippers or prostitutes”.
Ms Kwon, 30, insists he had vowed that if he ever did any of those things again, she could cash a $100,000 cheque he had made out to her.
Which is exactly what she did after he allegedly joined in a debauched night out at a strip club in March 2005, the New York Post reports.
But Mr Calvino filed a claim to get his money back — plus interest, legal fees and damages — saying he was being blackmailed.
He said his girlfriend had threatened to go to his bosses and make up tales of drug use “with strippers and whores”.
He claims he wrote the cheque to protect his career and reputation, and she cashed it for no apparent reason.
But Ms Kwon counter-claimed that Mr Calvino’s drug use and wild ways with women entitled her to the money.
What’s more, he failed a store-bought drug test of his urine, she claims.
The couple, who dated for two years, broke up in April 2006.
In an affidavit, Ms Kwon attached what she claims is the text of a long conversation she had with Mr Calvino in which he appears to admit to doing drugs and visiting strip clubs and tells her to keep the cash.
