Mother kills her five children
Four girls and a boy, aged between four and 14, were stabbed with a knife during the afternoon break from school before the woman called emergency services.
She tried to kill herself and was in critical condition at a local hospital. A note reading “Call the police, urgent” was taped to the front door of the middle-class house on the outskirts of Nivelles, 32km south of Brussels. “She left a letter that lets it appear that she committed the facts,” Bernard Goethals of the prosecutor’s office said.
Children did not have to attend school yesterday afternoon and the killings took place two hours after their return home.
Local media said she was a 51-year-old woman, married to a man eight years her junior.
