Woman sues over ‘bitch’ jibe in Ali G sketch

BORAT star Sacha Baron Cohen is being sued by a British woman who claims he called her a “bitch” and a “minger” and also alleged that he got her pregnant in an Ali G sketch in 2004.

She says she met Cohen 20 years ago on a trip to Israel but says they never engaged in any sexual activity and “over time they went their separate ways”.

But in August 2004 friends told her they had heard her name mentioned by the Ali G character, who allegedly said: “Me used to go out with this bitch called Heddi Cundle.”

The suit, filed in Los Angeles earlier this month,accused Cohen of saying the woman was a “minger” and that “once me got her pregnant, me said all right, laters, that is it”.

“None of the statements made by Baron Cohen are true,” the complaint, which seeks unspecified damages, says.

The plaintiff, who is not named by the writ, is suing Cohen, US network HBO and Da Ali G Show for libel, slander, invasion of privacy, fraud, breach of contract, negligent misrepresentation and negligent infliction of emotional distress.

She claims that HBO agreed to edit her name out when the clip was shown in future but that full versions appeared on video-sharing website YouTube and on Finnish TV.

Her profession has been “greatly impaired” as aresult, the writ says.

The woman is demanding a global recall of the material, legal costs and “further relief as the court may deem just and proper”. She wants the case to go before a jury.

Neither HBO nor Cohen’s publicist have commented on the case.
