Wedding guests attacked by man with hammer
Police were called to the Station Hotel, in Alfreton, Derbyshire, after reports of someone hitting party-goers with the weapon.
The attack, thought to have been carried out by an uninvited guest, left two people with minor injuries, said police.
It ruined the big day for everyone, especially the newlyweds, said landlord Peter Chambers.
He said: “There were about 200 people in the pub at the time. A fight broke out and one of the guests started shouting ‘someone has got a hammer’.
“It spoilt the night for everybody. We had to close the pub early.”
It is reported a 20-year-old local man was arrested a short time after the attack on Saturday evening, on suspicion of assault. He has since been released on bail pending further inquiries.
The details of the incident came to light as Derbyshire police launched an appeal for witnesses.
