Dr Death set for new life

DR JACK Kevorkian, who waged a defiant campaign for nearly a decade to help people kill themselves, will be released on June 1 next year — the first day he is eligible for parole, officials have announced.

Dr Death set for new life

The 78-year-old was convicted in 1998 of second-degree murder in the assisted suicide of a Michigan man.

By the time he was convicted of murder, he proudly claimed to have assisted in at least 130 deaths.

After eight years in jail and suffering health ailments, Kevorkian vows he will never again commit a crime. He says he may do some writing and give speeches.

His attorney, Mayer Morganroth, said Kevorkian plans to live with friends in a Detroit suburb and to get by on a small pension and his Social Security payments.

After his release, Kevorkian will be on probation for two years. He won’t be allowed to leave the state or change his residence without written permission from state officials.
