Cash-strapped Santa has to tighten his belt

IT’S hardly the most wonderful time of the year for Santa Claus and his helpers in Greenland.

And some 25,000 children worldwide who sent Santa their wish list and Christmas card won’t find any reply because St Nick’s cash crunch has meant no money for stamps from the local government.

Since 2002, Santa Claus of Greenland no longer gets the annual €214,000 from Greenland’s government to pay for replies to the estimated 25,000 letters he receives every year.
