Listeners turn to the Dark Side in poll
It has sold more than 34 million copies worldwide and spent a total of 14 years in the top 200 of the American Billboard chart.
Late Irish rocker Phil Lynnott's Thin Lizzy came third with Live and Dangerous.
Last month, Pink Floyd performed two tracks from the album, Breathe and Money, at theanti-poverty concert Live 8 concert in London their first performance together in 25 years.
Dark Side of the Moon is just one of four Pink Floyd albums in the top 30, with Wish You Were Here coming in at number four, The Wall at number 12 and Animals at number 25.
More than 15,000 listeners of digital radio station Planet Rock voted in the poll.
Led Zeppelin IV and Thin Lizzy Live and Dangerous came in second and third place respectively. Planet Rock presenter Nicky Horne said: "You can't go wrong with Dark Side of the Moon. I'm thrilled they are top of our pops." Other albums in the top 10 included AC/DC's Back In Black, Appetite for Destruction by Guns 'n' Roses, Meat Loaf's Bat Out of Hell, Deep Purple's In Rock, Physical Graffiti by Led Zeppelin and Pearl Jam's debut LP Ten.
