University Teaching Hospital paediatric consultant surgeon Lupando Munkonge said the as-yet unnamed infant also has three kidneys and an abnormal liver, but that the baby’s condition was stable and her mother was in good health.

“We have a baby that was born with abnormal features ... doctors will first remove the extra external features before removing the extra kidney,” Munkonge told reporters.
