Whistleblower 'not expecting to keep his job'
Mr Moxon was speaking following a face-to-face meeting with Home Office officials after his revelations that key checks were being waived for visa applicants from EU accession countries.
The civil servant was forced to explain his actions before Rosalind McCool, human resources (operations) director of the Home Office, during a meeting in Sheffield yesterday.
Following the meeting at Milton House, he told reporters he could not discuss the finer details of his discussions but said the meeting had been constructive.
He said: "I can't say very much. I am back in the Home Office environment so I can't comment on the meeting. It was a constructive meeting.
"It was just to establish whether or not my disclosure fell within the Public Interest Disclosure Act 1998, which myself and my representative from the union clearly feels it did."
Mr Moxon said he was expecting a decision within "a few weeks".
Asked for his reaction on the resignation of Beverley Hughes, he added: "I said before I'm still taking it in really. I'm surprised. I thought she'd hang on in there.
"Everyone now accepts she has several times, on serious matters, misled the House of Commons that's a straight forward resignation."
