Cobh Ramblers snap losing streak with win over Wexford

Cobh Ramblers snapped their five-match losing streak with a narrow victory over Wexford at St. Colman’s Park.

An own goal from Robbie McCourt off a low cross from Jordan Adeyemi was the difference between the two sides.

The result moves Cobh up to fifth, back into the play-off places after a rocky run through June and July.

The Ramblers were always comfortable, on a night that began with Luka Le Bervet hitting the side netting.

Wexford hit back with a brace of headers for Mikie Rowe, each one going straight into the hands of Timothy Martin.

The Ramblers then won a free-kick on the left wing and Shane Griffin curled that wide at the back post.

The visitors responded by stinging the palms of Martin with a Kian Dignam header, another tame moment from the Wexford forward line.

Cobh then took the lead, a moment born from a stunning piece of skill by Adeyemi on the right. The winger twisted free and put a low ball into the box that was scrambled over the line by Robbie McCourt as Stjernberg went for the ball.

The second half was a far more straightforward affair, with only one effort by Wexford troubling the Cobh defence. The Ramblers cleared that off the goal-line in the 74th minute and saw out the rest of the game with ease.
