Holders Shamrock Rovers will travel to St Patrick’s Athletic in the pick of the FAI Cup last-16 ties following Tuesday’s draw.

Recently retired former Cork City midfielder Conor McCormack helped make the pairings, alongside former Shelbourne captain Stuart Byrne, and they produced one all Premier Division tie, between the sides positioned first and third.

Elsewhere, Munster Senior League side College Corinthians were drawn against the competition’s 2024 winners Drogheda United, while another non-league winner from last weekend’s second round ties, Castlebar Celtic, travel to Drogs’s Louth rivals Dundalk.

Waterford’s reward for coming from behind to beat Cobh Ramblers on Friday is another home assignment, this time against Athlone Town, while Kerry take the long trip to the Premier Division’s bottom side Sligo Rovers. That’s a repeat of last year’s quarter-final they so spectacularly won 4-3 in extra-time after coming from three goals behind.
