Tottenham captain Cristian Romero’s departure from the north London club looks to be imminent, according to talkSPORT. The 28-year-old Argentina defender has reportedly held talks with Serie A champions Inter Milan in recent days, but Romero’s preference is said to be a move to LaLiga, with Barcelona believed to be interested.

Arsenal could look to sign Argentina forward Julian Alvarez this summer, according to talkSPORT. The 26-year-old former Manchester City player has reportedly told Atletico Madrid that he wants to leave the club, although Barcelona is thought to be his preferred destination.

Mason Greenwood joins Fenerbahce

Fenerbahce have signed forward Mason Greenwood from Marseille on a four-year deal.

The 24-year-old has made the switch to Turkey for a fee of 39million euros (£33.25m), which will be paid in three instalments over three years.

Greenwood scored 48 times in 81 appearances for OM, having made the switch from Manchester United in July 2024, and was the second highest scorer in Ligue 1 last term behind Rennes’ Esteban Lepaul.

Greenwood could make his debut for Fener in their Champions League second qualifying round clash with Gornik Zabrze next week.

Leandro Trossard completes Besiktas switch

Leandro Trossard has completed a permanent transfer from Arsenal to Besiktas.

The 31-year-old spent three-and-a-half years with the Gunners after joining the club from Brighton in January 2023.

During his time in north London, Trossard featured 174 times in all competitions, scoring 36 goals and providing 34 assists, and was part of Mikel Arteta’s side that won the Premier League title last season.

Harry Winks leaves Leicester for Cagliari

Former Tottenham and England midfielder Harry Winks has joined Italian side Cagliari from Leicester.

The 30-year-old has signed a two-year deal with the Serie A club and ends a three-year stay with the Foxes, during which he helped the midlands club win promotion to the Premier League before suffering back-to-back relegations.

Winks made 109 appearances for Leicester after arriving from boyhood club Spurs in 2023, registering five goals and five assists.

The midfielder becomes the third player to leave the King Power Stadium on a permanent basis this summer following the departures of Bilal El Khannouss to Stuttgart and Jeremy Monga to Manchester City.

Sunderland sign defender Thomas Meunier

Sunderland have announced the signing of defender Thomas Meunier on a two-year deal.

The 34-year-old arrives at the Stadium of Light following the expiration of his contract at Lille where he made 81 appearances.

The Belgium international featured three times for his country in this summer’s World Cup before they were knocked out by Spain the quarter-finals.

The experienced defender has accumulated more than 550 career appearances and will join up with the squad in the early part of August.

Meunier told the official club website: “I am hugely excited and honoured to join Sunderland.

“I’m very happy to be here and to begin this new chapter in my career. The Premier League is one of the most competitive and exciting leagues in the world, and it’s a challenge I’ve wanted to experience.

“When I spoke with the club, I was impressed by the ambition, the project and the desire to keep moving forward. Competing in Europe was also a big factor in my decision because, as a player, you always want to test yourself against the best teams and compete for trophies.”

Lewis Dobbin joins Southampton

Southampton have announced the signing of forward Lewis Dobbin from Aston Villa in a reported £10million deal.

The 23-year-old, who spent last season on loan at Preston, has put pen to paper on a four-year contract with Saints.

“It’s an amazing feeling, I’m very grateful to be able to represent this club and to be given the opportunity to play for Southampton is something that I can’t ever take for granted,” he told the south-coast club’s website.

“I’m just really thankful to be here and I can’t wait to get started.

“It’s been a busy few weeks, but Tonda (Eckert) was the first manager I spoke to and the way he spoke about the football club, the way he spoke about the players, it sold it to me straightaway.

“My mind was already made up as soon as I knew Southampton were interested.”
